Have you ever shared something exciting with someone because it meant so much to you? When people discover good news, they naturally want to tell others. In the same way, the message of Jesus Christ is the greatest news a person can receive.
Evangelism means communicating the message of salvation through Jesus Christ so that others may come to know Him. The word "gospel" itself means good news.
"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
— Mark 16:15 KJVWhy is Evangelism Important?
1. It is a command from Jesus — Evangelism is important because Jesus Himself commanded His followers to share the gospel with others.
"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain."
— John 15:16 KJV2. God desires that people be saved — God's heart is that people everywhere come to repentance and receive salvation.
"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise… but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
— 2 Peter 3:9 KJV3. People cannot believe unless they hear the gospel — Many people do not know about the message of salvation
"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"
— Romans 10:14 KJV4. It is wise to win souls — The Bible describes soul winning as an act of wisdom
"The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise."
— Proverbs 11:30 KJVWhy is Evangelism Important?
Sharing your testimony — telling others what God has done in your life.
Inviting someone to church — giving others the opportunity to hear the gospel.
Speaking about Christ in everyday conversations — sharing the hope and salvation found in Him.
Showing love and kindness — living in a way that reflects the character of Christ.
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
— Matthew 5:16 KJVreflect
If the message of Christ brings forgiveness, hope, and eternal life — why would we keep it to ourselves? Who in your life needs to hear this good news today?
