Now that we understand who the Holy Spirit is, it is important for us as believers to recognize that there are moments when the Holy Spirit takes hold of our lives in a special way to empower us.
Being filled with the Holy Spirit refers to an ongoing experience where the Spirit of God actively influences, guides, and empowers a believer. Through this filling, believers receive strength, boldness, wisdom, and spiritual sensitivity to live according to God's will.

The indwelling of the Holy Spirit means the Spirit lives in us — this happens once at salvation. Being filled with the Holy Spirit means the Spirit leads and empowers us — this is something believers can experience continually as they walk with God.

1. Desire and Ask God — Being filled with the Holy Spirit begins with a sincere desire and asking God in prayer.
"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"
