LESSON 02 OF 07

He's not a feeling.
He's a person.

The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. From the beginning of time all three have been present. They are one yet have different offices and manifest as different persons. They are co-equal and co-existent.

When you think of an egg you have the shell, egg yolk and egg white. You can't separate one from the other just like how you can't separate the Father from the Son or the Son from the Spirit or the Father from the Spirit.

You can have water in three different forms — as liquid, as gas and as solid. They are all chemically H₂O, they are one thing however operate in different forms depending on the temperature. Likewise the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one God.

The Holy Spirit is a Holy Being and has the same power with God the Father and God the Son.

"And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever."

— John 14:16 NKJV

The Holy Spirit is operational and works in men.

The Holy Spirit is…

The Holy Spirit is…

Our Helper and Teacher (John 14:26). Our Intercessor who helps us in our weaknesses (Romans 8:26). The one who bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:16). The one who sanctifies us (1 Corinthians 6:11). The giver of spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:7-11). The one who empowers us for service (Acts 1:8).

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."

— John 14:26 NKJV

"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

— Acts 1:8 NKJV

reflect.

The Holy Spirit isn't distant or abstract. He is a person — a helper, a teacher, a comforter. Have you allowed Him to be active in your daily life, or have you kept Him at a distance?
